Inspired by beautiful floating girls in the ocean relaxing on their vacation. The minimalism of this composition is informed by Edward Hopper’s handling of sailboats & the sea. I tried to create a happy stillness by keeping the paint surface calm & the color palette in a narrow range of soothing blues to reinforce the narrative. The yellow of the floats & the red bikini provide a subtle color pop. I hope the viewer experiences those lazy, salty air vibes of the Caribbean.
